That's why your :ILogin is so much faster - it uses native connectivity. The only :windows development languages that I am aware offer native Informix :connectivity are NewEra and Delphi. Be carefull, the above is not (necessarily) true. ODBC might actually be faster than "native" connectivity (from any database vendor). This all depends on the number and complexity of the layers of software that implements the connectivity. There are ways of redusing this using ODBC as well as "native" connectivity. Both Openlink and SQL Retriever, and possibly others have done this. If you use ODBC you gain the advantage of beeing able to connect to databases from different vendors, and retain the option of using vendor spesific SQL via the sql passthrough option.
