No. The directory where hosts and services should be depends on the Winsock compliant TCP/IP product you have installed on the PC. Some products expect it in the root dir of the drive where it has been installed. With FTP PC/TCP version 2.x it is configurable through installation program. In PCTCP installation directory you can see PCTCP.INI file in which there is an entry for where hosts can be found. The service need not necessarily be sqlexec. You can even give your name and assign an unused and unreserved port number. Add appropriate entries in sqlhosts file, in services file in the NIS server of your domain or on your UNIX workstation. Duplicate the hosts and services on your domain server or workstation to the PC in the appropriate directory and start the sqlexecd daemon process on UNIX with appropriate command line. You should be in business !! >Anyone have any ideas? >------------------------- >Mike Dawson >Chiron Corp.
