Please reply >by email to sur@hogpa.ho.att.com > > There are a couple of things to remember when adding a new db/dobjspace and using a UNIX file as a chunk: 1. The file must first be created, for example, touch infx_chunk 2. The file must be owned by informix, group informix, and permissions 0660 3. The file system holding the file must have enough room for the size of the requested initial chunk for your dbspace. For example, If you create a dbspace called "unixdbs" and add a 500MB chunk as the initial chunk for the dbspace, Informix will attempt to increase the size of the chunk file to 500MBytes. 4. Your performace will only be as good as your "cooked" UNIX bufferring for file system I/O.
