The assertion that this is an Informix, rather than OS, limitation is b......t! Sort of - it is half right, anyway. The issue is that the default stdio library on 32-bit platforms only permits files up to 2 GB, and in earlier versions of IDS (meaning prior to IDS 9.40) on 32-bit platforms, Informix was not explicitly configured to use the big file version of the stdio library - so it got stuck with the small file version. There's only marginally more to it than that - there were some changes in the calculations when we lifted the 2GB limit, but it was mostly trivial... Of course, there's no evidence that either RPG or UNIBOL has the faintest relevance to Informix either. -- Jonathan Leffler #include <disclaimer.h> Email: jleffler@earthlink.net, jleffler@us.ibm.com Guardian of DBD::Informix v2005.01 -- http://dbi.perl.org/
