Is there anyone who has tried running versions > 5 or 6 on 386 PCs? Are there any problems we should watch out for? Why do you want to run Informix on a PC? It is horrendously inefficient. Why not use a 486 PC (386sx or higher) as a server in a network running SCO Unix (32 bit multi-user, multi-tasking operating system on 32 bit architecture machine) and TCP/IP? It won't cost you much and you will have the best performance. I have two clients who currently run Novell networks with a Unix server each which holds the database. The users run IPX/SPX for the Novell network and TCP/IP (e.g.: LAN Workplace for DOS (incl Windows) or LAN Workplace for OS/2 or IBM TCP/IP) to link into the Unix box. -- David H Lipschitz email: david@lipdav.demon.co.uk Orbital Decisions: decision support services to bulk shipping companies The opinions are probably those of my company.
