java.net.SocketException: Socket closed

Good Day I have an application that is using an informix jdbc connection pool. Intermittantly I get the error java.net.SocketException: Socket closed when trying to do connection.close() Does anybody have any idea what could be causing this Thanks

I've seen this errors in AppServer behind firewalls. I'd say that one off the connections endpoints closed the socket (timeout, network error...) but the other end didn't noticed it.
