You can *disable* Add and Remove, making them no-ops, but they would still appear in the ring menu: ... before editadd of <tablename> abort before remove of <tablename> abort ... But the user wouldn't get any feedback as to *why* the menu options weren't operable. He or she would press 'A', and the only visible result would be to move the current-option highlight to "Add". If you're using a customized form runner, you can make a perf_sleep() function call (which just calls sleep(n)) combined with the COMMENTS statement, thus: before editadd editupdate of customer comments bell reverse "Add option not allowed" call mysleep(2) abort before remove of customer comments bell reverse "Remove option not allowed" abort call mysleep(2) But without such a sleep() call, the messages are cleared immediately. -- (c) 1996 Alan Denney aland@informix.com Disclaimer: Sender under influence of 1,3,7-trimethylxanthine "My opinions may have changed, but not the fact that I am right." -- Ashleigh Brilliant
