Why all messages not visible to AOL

My regular news server is down and I am using AOL to read newsgroups. It shows, for example, 75 message, but when I go to read them, there are only about a third of them available. AOL says to ask the Newsmaster of this group if they are screening availability. Does anyone else have this problem with AOL?
