If the database is not modified much during the week then
the amount of data backed up in the middle of the week
would be very small. The majority of the time during your
level 1 and/or level2 backup will be reading all the used
pages from disk in the online system and determining
if the pages have been modified. Since there are so few differences
I doubt there will be a major difference in performance between
the level 1 and level 2. In general the disk I/O between a level
1 and level 2 archive is exactly the same, the only difference
is the amount of data written two tape.
You might want to consider level 0 followed by level 1 during
the week and dropping the level 2. This will make it easier to
administrate and give you a shorter the restore time in the event
of a failure.
