Thank you to those taking time to reply to my posting. In haste, my posting was very brief and I failed to mention that I had modifed the dbexport "dbname.sql" file to set the extent sizes and lock modes for the tables prior to importing. Apologies all round .. As many of you had mentioned, I forgot to run "update statistics" on the database following the import. Thats what happens when you do a 7 day week :-( All is well now.
