When you grant them to users, you will see entries created in "sysusers" catalog with usertype 'C', 'R' and 'D' respectively. When you create new roles, their entries are created in "sysusers" catalog with usertype 'G', indicating the username is actually a role. When you grant role to certain users or roles, their entries are stored in "sysroleauth". To get all available roles, query "sysusers" with usertype 'G'. To get all users and roles belonging to role, query "sysroleauth". As I know there are the following default roles: 1) connect (Every one connected on a database automatically is assigned on that role) 2) resource (Have full access on database objects) 3) dba (Have full access on every database and on Informix engine) If I create new roles (eg newrole1, newrole2, ...) and assign members to each of that roles where (on which tables if any or any other object ) is used to store/keep those information. I am asking because I want by using an sql query to know all the available roles nad their members. I am using Informix 9.30 TC3 on Windows 2000 Server Thanks in Advance SZ
