Re: archecker info

Hi Mickey,
Good to see you last night at the NorCal User Group meeting.
Wasn't it good to learn about IECC v4 and see concept versions
of browser-based monitoring and control?
Archecker will be fully documented and supported in the coming
Centaur (9.2) release. It is supported, but not yet documented,
in the 7.3 release, and will work with earlier versions as well.
Usage and configuration are covered in the "7.3 Features" course
offered by Informix and in the coming new course on "Backup and
Restore" (due in June.)
The short version for archecker 4.2 (that shipped with IDS 7.30)
goes something like:
Use it along with onbar by using the command
"onbar -r -v"
or by itself with ontape with
"archecker -tdvs"
or by itself to verify an onbar backup set with
"archecker -bdvs"
The options mean:
-b direct XBSA access
-D delete old files and exit
-d delete old files
-F retrieve list of pages off the backup set
-P read performance info only
-R restart the checking
-s print the status messages to the screen
-t read the tape directly
-T restart at a specific tape
-v verbose output
-V version
Archecker has a configuration file in
$INFORMIXDIR/etc/ac_config.std .
Several things are changing and improving for the coming new
release, so watch for the product documentation.
