Informix connect V 2.0x installconn -o 2. Informix 4gl 3. Informix server installserver Now when I am trying to bring the server it does not start and I get the following error message at the prompt (oninit -iy ), Cannot find message file. Check INFORMIXDIR and DBLANG Please let me know whether the above order of installation is correct or any other thing I am missing here. Thanks, Vadi

It is not clear from your post but did you just run the scripts in that order ordid you untar the packages in that order also? Connect is only needed to execute ESQL programs compiled elsewhere but installing it cannot hurt, but it probably should be installed after 4GL. The correct sequence should be: 1) Untar 4GL 2) Run install4gl 3) Untar iConnect 4) Run installconn 5) Untar IDS 6) Run installonline (or installserver depends on version) Art S. Kagel
