"rows" wouldn't be the option in question, but "cols".
It isn't necessarily a bug, and just because it isn't doesn't mean
they "won't change it". A feature request exists (#5841), but I have
no idea if and when it'll be implemented. I'm still amazed after all
this time that it's not on some sort of internal tech support FAQ.
In the meantime, there are numerous ways to get around it--I've
heard of people using ISQL with the vt100w termcap (up to 132
cols), you could use a report writer/ISQL, code a small ESQL/C
program or do an unload with a tab delimiter. There also used to
be an IIUG package called "reformat"<?> that tweaked DBAccess
output.
I know none of those are as easy as just having DBAccess look at
the stty settings, but since when has Informix been known for
doing things in a straightforward manner?
