I know that there are methods > in the Guides to SQL and if I have to I'll use 'em, but on a couple of > hundred tables this is going to be a bit of a job. We did this in a very course way: 1. Loaded a few small, medium and large tables 2. Compare space used in OnLine with size of .dat + .idx files in SE for each table. 3. Use the result to set extent size. 4. Set next extent small on tables that will not grow much or at all. 5. Set next extent to 10 - 20% of first on tables that grow. Point 3 should even be relatively easy to automate, although we did it manually. Points 4 and especially 5 may require some thinking and manual work. This is course, but gave us a reasonable starting point. We have only reasently started some minor modifications on this using the ztools to show space usage and to analyze what tables should be modified. This by the way gives me an idea for a new ztool. It should be possible to make a tool that could take some snapshots of table usage, spaced out over a few months or whatever, analyze the data and automatically generating sql to resize all tables that need it.
