4gl Scripts/Software Distribution

I have two requests: 1) I am looking for a 4GL or shell script or C program that will read the contents of a schema and create random and dummy data for that table. This would be great for developers who need test data and then want to run the same code against new data. 2) I am looking for a "software distribution" application that would reside on a UNIX server and perform the task of downloading a file to a client (PC running MS/Windows) when it has been determined that an upgrade is needed. Scenario: Server: NCR3450/UNIX V 4.0/Online 7.1 Client: PC running MS/Windows or Windows for Workgroups. Network: Company-wide Ethernet TCP/IP Client Software: Powerbuilder 3.0/Informix I-net I know that software like that exists for LanManager networks or Novell networks.
