Are you saying that you have the blobspace created from NFS mounted chunks or that the source files for the BLOBs are on NFS and the insert gets interrupted when the source directory mount fails? If the former, I'd say, don't do that! Informix SE didn't used to allow NFS mounted files to be used in the DB for good reason. If it's the latter, try recoding the apps to read the images into memory and insert the blob data from that memory buffer (set the loc_loctype field in the locator structure to LOC_MEMORY, loc_buffer to the memory copy of the image, and loc_bufsize to the length of the image data. This way you will know that you have read the entire image before trying to insert the row. Art S.
