I have used Informix products for over 4 years. I have found that If you can get past teaching the "support" people how to use
Informix products, they have a great development platform.
They do have their share of bugs, but theyhave always supplied "workarrounds"
that seem to work, for now. Some are very painfull.... like not being able to
use the STATUS indicator after sql statements that select INTO money (or decimal)
types on the IBM Power PC/AIX line. Every time we port to AIX, we have to run
scripts against the 4GL to change STATUS to SQLCA.SQLCODE (Oh well....)
Other than these few _minor_ probelms, I love the product... Not that anyone
really cares what I think!?
