Could anybody enlighten me: IDS v7.24 and above - Informix will only allow a single database connection via SHM, as opposed to multiple for TCP/IP (for example). Does anybody know if or when Informix is planning to migrate this functionality? Cheers, Joe Blackman.

As far as I know there are no plans to permit multiple shared memory connections from a single task. For improved performance over TCP/IP you can use onipcstr (Stream/Named Pipes) if you platform supports this connection type it will be noted in the release notes file ONLINE_7.2. Art S. Kagel

No changes are planned that I know of. The communication shared memory segment is attached at a particular address, and it is difficult to have two different chunks of shared memory mapped to the same address. -- Jonathan Leffler (jleffler@informix.com, jleffler@earthlink.net) Guardian of DBD::Informix v0.60 -- see http://www.perl.com/CPAN #include <disclaimer.h>
