Re: Point in time restore with archecker

Hi, FYI regarding table-level restore to an external table (a file) -- When you specify a restore to an external table (a file), only the physical restore portion is done (restore of data from a level-0 archive). archecker cannot do logical restore for external table. This is because archecker must be able to delete and insert data (via sql) during the logical restore portion, and this is not possible when you are restoring to a file. So, you cannot do a point-in-time table-level restore when you are restoring to an external table (a file). As you mentioned, the restore to the external table worked fine when you specified no restore option -- by default, it restores the physical portion only. You probably saw a message like this in the archecker log. ======= STATUS: No logical recovery required. ======= Regardless of what you specify for the "restore to ...", it will only restore the physical part -- although it says "No logical recovery required", it really means "No logical recovery can be done when you specify an external table for the data to be restored to." --Hyun-Ju Hyun-Ju Vega IBM SWG Client Support - Information Management Software IBM Informix APD Engineer - Advanced Problem Diagnostics
