Both these ISV's use DB2's call-level interface. Apart from the obvious
(SELECT/INSERT/UPDATE/DELETE), there are many specific features we added
to DB2 to facilitate an ISV:
SAP uses the following DB2 features on Linux / Unix / Windows:
mirrored logging
suspend i/o
fetch first n rows syntax
load from call-level interface
alter table modify varchar64-bit log addressing
Expanded Unicode support
online reorg
on-demand log archiving
backup from split mirror
rename table
rename index
sql access to monitor
Control Center for zOS
block transactions but allow select when log space exhausted
Siebel uses:
- client side load
- dynamic configuration parameters
- set isolation level
