Hi Gurus,
I have a DB that i want to do some log replay.
startup --- oninit -PHYv ## This looks good and shows in fast recovery mode.
When i do "ontape -l -C", it showed that all my dbspaces are "Online" but the
the itself is in fast recovery.
0/11/16 08:59:51 Started 1 B-tree scanners.
10/11/16 08:59:51 B-tree scanner threshold set at 10000.
10/11/16 08:59:51 B-tree scanner range scan size set to -1.
10/11/16 08:59:51 B-tree scanner ALICE mode set to 6.
10/11/16 08:59:51 B-tree scanner index compression level set to med.
10/11/16 08:59:51 Data replication type and state information reset. To start
DR, use
the 'onmode -d' command and wait for the pair to be operational,
before shutting down the database server

when i tried "ontape -l -C" it showed:
informix@#ontape -l -C
Logical restore failed
There are no DBspaces or BLOBspaces to recover.
Check the status by using onstat -d.
Program over.
I am using IBM Informix Dynamic Server Version 12.10.FC4AEE on AIX 7
Thanks,
Ronald
After you restore the last logical log you have to bring the engine to full
online mode with onmode -m to complete fast recovery. If you shutdown and
rstart without doing that you have start the restore all over again!

Hey Art,
Thanks a lot.. it's intended to be in "Fast Recovery" mode after oninit -PHYv,
to do the log replay. I don't want it to be in On-Line mode. What i'm just
curious is the chunks are marked as "Primary Online", which should be Primary
Inconsistent.
Anyways, i'm doing a physical restore tonight and hopefully, i can continue
the log replay tomorrow..
Cheers,
Ronald
Yes after the physical restore and even after the log restore the chunks
should be inconsistent not online. I agree that after the physical restore
you want to leave the engine as is waiting for the log restore. What I was
saying is that after restoring the last logical log that you need to
restore you need to bring the engine online before shutting down or trying
to establish HDR.
If for some reason the engine crashes or must be brought down before the
restores complete you have to restart it with:
oninit -PHYto avoid the fast recovery phase which will fail because of the aborted
restore. Then you could continue the log restore.
