IDS virtual appliance
Hi all, I was trying to work with the IDS virtual appliance using VMware Workstation on Windows XP (core 2 duo with 2GB Ram). I downloaded the IDS virtual app software from https://www14.software.ibm.com/webapp/iwm/web/reg/download.do?source=swg-informi xfpd&S_PKG=dl The installation was finished but Launching the IDS virtual appliance failed with VMware convertor error, some cloning failed... I'm googling the error but If any one has tried this on their windows machine with VMware workstation then pls let me know if I have downloaded the correct software and if there is any latest reference docs on this. Kindly let me know if any one wants to see the error in more details from the log file. Regards Vikas
Hi Vikas, With the latest version there are several download choices. One possibility is that you accidentally downloaded the VMWare ESX version and tried to run it in VMWare Workstation, please double check which file you downloaded. Another possible error to watch out for (though I hope VMWare would give you a more meaningful message) is download a 64-bit version and running it on a machine that doesn't have a 64-bit capable chipset. If it wasn't any of the above, which version of VMWare Workstation are you using? Hi Guy ! Thanks for your response and its looks like i have downloaded the wrong software for my setup. I have installed VMware Workstation 6.5.1 on Windows XP 32 bit core 2 duo with 2 GB memory and 40Gb NTFS partion for the IDS virtual app setup. As you have mentioned there are serveral download choices hence requesting you to please provide me with the correct option that need to be downloaded for my setup. Vikas, you can safely choose between: IDS-11.50.UC4-DE-SLES10SP2-wks-x86_32-v1.9.2.exe IDS-11.50.UC4-DE-SLES10SP2-x86_32-v1.9.2.tgz these two should be the same thing with different compression method.
