Thanks for the information. This is what I was suspecting...
My solution is actually going to use the safe method of unloading each
table using the unload command in a unix for-loop with a list of tables.
( Maybe I'm paranoid but I don't trust dbimport and dbexport. )
Once the tables are unloaded I will then recreate the data base by
dropping it,
and using a new schema-script with new extents created with an
extent-calculator
I wrote that uses the recipe from the 4.1 manual.
I'm going to also put a couple of the bigger tables in their own dbspaces
as a
further refinement. The 5.0 Administrator's guide, and the SQL Tutorial
have
been quite helpful. I have to say INFORMIX has done a good job of
improving
their documentation---but don't stop now, keep up the good work!
