Just a minor quibble on details: Oracle, as far as I am aware, does NOT have a CASE statement. They do have DECODE() which Informix has also added in 7.3. The CASE statement turns out to be even more flexible than the DECODE() function, as you can handle more complex expressions easily in the CASE statement.
