configuring informix on a WINNT 4.0 Server belonging to a domain but not being the DNS Admin

Hi, I'm a fresh Informix (IDS WORKGROUP 7.30) user and have installed it easily on a freestanding NT4 server. I could create DB, DBSpaces, Tables, load data into them, etc without problems. The problem arose when the system people connected this server to a network with another NT4 server acting as DNS Primary controller : The connection to the server, databases, tables went very slow. We have now have following situation : 2 NT4 servers called AAA and BBB on a local network. AAA is the primary server and DNS administrator for two domains XXX and WORKGROUP. BBB is a free standing server belonging to domain XXX. AAA is going to become an intranet server and will access an Informix database on BBB via an ODBC connection. Some NT4 Workstation have to access the database on BBB via the Informix Connect software. The Informix documentation (Installation Guide + Readme.txt for 7.30.TC1 IDS) is sonewhat not very easy to understand especially page 2 of readme (New Feature). Did somebody had a similar problem or is there a DNS expert around to tell me a) on which server I should install IDS b) what parameters to set in the hosts resp. services as well as in the registry I would appreciate any help.
