Help With CONSTRUCT

I'm using the CONSTRUCT to do a query in a 4GL program. I'd like to "pre-load" the field I'm doing the query on (it's a 10-character CHAR field) with the first five characters that will probably cover about 95 percent of the retrievals I'll do, and let the user enter the last five characters or just backspace and enter the full 10 characters for those other 5 percent of the retrievals. So far the closest I've gotten to the desired result is a DISPLAY of the five characters to the field, but that leaves the terminal cursor at the first position of the field, not positioned at the end of the five characters, where I'd like it to be. All other attempts have come up even shorter. Any suggestions appreciated.
