High Performance Loader using Text BLOBs
Posted in 2004
Informix version 9.2 on Solaris
No matter what I try, I cannot get onpload to load in Deluxe Mode. I have
a very large file to load and am currently using a pipe and dbload. I
want to use HPL. Following is a snippit of my test script:
========================================================
# Loads table ps_bc_note
LOADINGDIR=/export/home/informix/ifmxdata/ccnc_rep
# Remove uncompressed load file.
rm -f $LOADINGDIR/ps_bc_note.unl
# Create a pipe.
/etc/mknod $LOADINGDIR/ps_bc_note.unl p
sleep 2
# Uncompress to pipe.
zcat $LOADINGDIR/ps_bc_note.unl.Z > $LOADINGDIR/ps_bc_note.unl &
sleep 2
# Load from pipe. I TRIED ALL THE BELOW OPTIONS (AND OTHERS)
#onpload -p ccnc_rep -j ps_bc_note -fplcn -l
~/scripts/ccnc_rep/logs/ps_bc_note.log
#onpload -j ps_bc_note -p ccnc_rep -d $LOADINGDIR/ps_bc_note.unl -fplcn -l
~/scripts/ccnc_rep/logs/ps_bc_note.log
#onpload -j ps_bc_note -p ccnc_rep -flc -l
~/scripts/ccnc_rep/logs/ps_bc_note.log
#onpload -j ps_bc_note -p ccnc_rep -d ld_ps_bc_note -flc -l
~/scripts/ccnc_rep/logs/ps_bc_note.log
onpload -j ps_bc_note -p ccnc_rep -m ps_bc_note -flc -l
~/scripts/ccnc_rep/logs/ps_bc_note.log
==========================================This is the output of my log file ==>
informix@nova /export/home/informix/scripts/ccnc_rep/logs >more ps*

The "device" defined in ipload is a pipe. I let ipload auto generate the
job, the unload file is delimited "|", the blob text is contained in the
unload file and is about 100 characters, the mapping is straight 1 to 1.
ipload definitions==>
job = ps_bc_note
project = ccnc_rep
device = ld_ps_bc_note
mapping = ps_bc_note
format = ps_bc_note (all fields are defined CHARS except the BLOB
field which is SIMPLE LO TEXT)
How can I force onpload to load in DELUXE mode instead of EXPRESS mode? Is
my format defined correctly?
Thanks,
Jamie
