Se your administration manual (also awailable on
http://www.informix.com/answers) for the appropriate syntax. Here's an
example:
onspaces -c -d dbspce1 -p /dev/raw_dev1 -s 50000
-c - create
-d dbsapacename - you forgot the -d.
-p pathname to raw device or cooked file. It's seldom a good idea to
use a relative pathname as you have done.
If you have onmonitor that's normaly an easier tool to use for the
purpose.
