Hi, I want to increase the size of a column having datatype as blob to 2 GB.i tried creating a table and writing the size in that and tried altering a table as well but i was not able to do that. Here is the syntax which i used: create table "informix".rule ( id char(128) not null , version char(128) not null , author char(128), compressed "informix".blob, ); i tried this by copying the schema of an existing table which is having the same blob field but having size as 2GB but when i executed it its column size was 72 .and no blobspace is being used by the table which is having the field size as 2GB. Please help me in that ....its very critical for me.

I'm confused. What do you mean the column size was 72? Are you getting that information from syscolumns? Blobs are stored external to the main row. There is a 72 byte locator contained within the row which points to the blob itself. While the locator is 72 bytes long, that does not mean that the blob can only hold 72 bytes. > > Please help me in that ....its very critical for me. >
