Any other experiences? We have heard from Informix that from 1 to 3 processors the multiprocessor paramter should be set to NO, but from 4 and up it is usefull to set it to YES. Is this now reconsidered? Is even 4 processors not enough on SCO Unix? What about Solaris for Intel? In that case we have a significant problem as we, based on information directly from Informix, have bought single processor Intel based servers with an option to install up to 4 processors. We have planed to upgrade these to 4 processors sometimes next year when our databases has grown to sizes and usage that require significantly more performance. If we can't set the multiprocessor paramter to YES, will we get any significant performance increase out of 4 processors as compared to one? Any experience anyone? (We also plan to increas the number of discs and spread the database on several of these.) We are told by Compaq and others that the reason for a limit of 4 processors is that a machine becomes substantially more expensive if you go beyond this. (More hardware seems to be needed.) (Compaq are thinking about clustered servers that could potentially run Informix ver 8.0 XPS.)
