Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
Benedikt Ries reported that importing data from Informix to MS SQL Server 2005 still failed and asked for help. Jonathan Leffler said the post gave no problem details and pointed to the unload.format file in the IIUG SQLCMD distribution. Jose Luis said few readers knew the tools. berso suggested using JDBC with a prepared insert and offered a sample; Benedikt asked for one. No resolution in the thread.

We still haven't come to a proper solution. Please, if anyone has a
suggestion oder experienced a similar problem, answer me. I greatly
appreciate any help provided.

Well, I for one don't see any trace of your problem information in this
posting, so you can't get accurate help.
You could look at the unload.format file in the SQLCMD distribution from
the IIUG (http://www.iiug.org/software) and see if that helps you.
It may also be said (again?) that those in the Informix camp are likely
to be less sympathetic to your problem than those in the MS SQL Server
2005 camp. The obvious solution to your problem is to use a working
DBMS like Informix.

Hi,
Sorry I can't help you, but bear in mind that
1) You're asking about a problem working with a DBMS that most of us
don't know - we're supposed to be good at Informix
2) You're asking about a problem working with a package that most of us
don't know
3) The problem log is written in german, maybe dutch - if I had any
problem like yours my log would be written in spanish. ¿Would most of
this forum readers understand it?
Anyway, you can be pretty sure that if anyboody had any solution he/she
would post it. I would.
Hope you'll find the answer soon. Regards,

Let see if i'm getting the idea rigth, you're trying to move data
between an INFORMIX db to a MYSQL db using ODBC, and is not working, if
this is the case, let me sugest you this:
Use JDBC instead, i do a lot of this:
to move a table from one DB to a diferent DB,
-clean the destination table
-create a JDBC conection to both DBs
-create a prepared statement to the destination table
-select * from original table ( may not be *, and may not be
just one table, but it has to be jus one select)
-use a while to read the data from the source
-execute the prepared statement to insert data to dest. file
-create index in destination table, update statistics, etc...
If you think this may help you i can give you more details, or even a
java class example so you can adapt it to your needs.
my .02
berso, that sounds interesting. MY destination server is MS SQL Server
2005 but the rest is right. could you give me a sample?
