I haven't seen the specs for the Sybase and Ingres Replication Servers so I don't know how they will compare but this is my current understanding. Informix Online V6 will have the ability to maintain a remote system with a replica of the Online session running on the local system. This remote system will be read-only and will be kept upto date via the logical logs. These will be transferred from the main online system and rolled forward on the replica. Switch over will not be entirely transparent, which isn't surprising, but I believe that re-synching will be. I do not know whether it will be possible to create multiple replica's automatically but from my reading of the specs I do not think so. I hope I got this right! Are Ingress and Sybase Replication servers shipping yet? The last time I remember seeing anything about the Sybase one was when they announced System 10 (6 months? ago). I got the distinct impression it was entirely vapourware back then, put out in response to the impending Oracle 7 announcements. Cheers - Jim
