Because we all had to move into new technologies. Did Informix for about 8 years, but during the downturn of 2001 - could not find work. I've spent a few dificult years re-skilling. (IMHO) Having Informix as your primary skill is not good, since most companies have moved to other products.

Best place for it. Informix is still used by some large companies for its reliability, and speed. Still think they (or IBM) provide good database solutions. But they never kept up with other vendors, who provided more complete solutions (like Oracle Financials), and better administration / development tools. Many years ago, before other vendors had similar tools on the market, I saw someone using a set of informix libraries in order to make CGI calls for a web interface. These libraries were not documented, typical of Informix, ahead of the game - but no documentation or product awareness. PS - Half the fun of football is the controversial decisions, one place where technology is not needed... The game will be no fun without the 'Hand of God', 'Russian Lines Man' (etc) incidents..
