Was zipping it a bad idea? There's a lot to be said for posting any code that works in a real-world situation. Even if no one uses it to perform the exact same function, it is still useful for showing how a particular approach works. However, if what you're considering posting is really big, perhaps you could just announce it and see how many requests you get for copies. If you'd like, you could send me a copy for the FTP archive I maintain, and let people get it by direct ftp or ftpmail@decwrl.dec.com. As far as zipping goes, I guess it's a judgement call. My guess is that in the Unix world at least, far more people have access to compress than to any of the {g|pk}zip variants, even though the latter often do a much better job. BTW, I grabbed your posting and put it in the archive as the shar file "/pub/informix/pub/msg_pmpt.shar". Fully unpacked then shar'ed, it's slightly less than 11K. Given that it's useable code, I probably would have posted it as a plain text shar. Other's may feel differently, of course. >I have another 4.1 function which gives a pop-up selection window (with >Query-by-example!), based entirely on a SQL-like command parameter: > >Anybody interested? I'd appreciate your e-mailing me a copy if you don't post it.
