Network Connection -Linux IDS

We are trying to setup the network connection in Linux IDS.The shared
memory connection is fine, but we cannot create a connection using
dbaccess to the network connection, we get error -908 " Attempt to
connect to database server "linuxidstcp"failed". We have in the onconfig
file set dbservername "linuxids" and dbserveralias as "linuxidstcp". We
try to set up Nettype of "ipcshm,1,50,CPU" and "soctcp,1,50,CPU" in
the onconfig, but they are not accepted. In the sqlhosts file we have
entries set as" linuxids onipcshm hostname sqlexec " and "linuxidstcp
onsoctcp hostname sqlexectcp". The services are set at "sqlexec
1550/tcp", and "sqlexectcp 1551/tcp". Do we need static IP addresses,
can we use DHCP? Any ideas to help would be greatly appreciated :-))
Thanks in advance :-)))

David,
In setting up our test Linux box, I noticed in the release notes that
setting a NETTYPE config parameter to a vp-class of NET will cause Informix
to crash on initialization. I tested that to watch what happens, and sure
enough it didn't work. We then tried configuring both types of connections
(ipcshm and soctcp) under the CPU vp-class. This also did refused to come
up. What ultimately worked was to remove the NETTYPE config parameter for
ipcshm. Note that we did NOT remove the shm connection in the sqlhosts file
or the shm connection's name from DBSERVERNAME/DBSERVERALIAS. This whole
episode makes me wonder about Informix's ability to deal with two CPU
vp-class NETTYPE configuration entries. I know it's supposed to work,
but....
Kind regards,
John Bejarano.

That bug has been fixed weeks ago. Download the latest release.
I have two NETTYPE parameters on 3 other platforms so it is not
Informix per se. Just a misunderstanding about some data structure or
other in the Linux network libraries.
