RE: ONCONFIG for 9.40 offered for comment

Neil-
That's what we thought when we first upgraded one of our engine
to 9.4. We discovered that do to some change in the optimizer, it would
no longer use indexes on temporary tables, unless you ran UPDATE
STATISTICS for that table after loading it and building the index. If
your app uses large temporary tables, you may want to look in that
direction.

Thanks. Chaning OPTCOMPIND on a live system would be a brave move I'd
have
thought, in the sense that a decision to invite a professional liability
lawsuit is "brave"!
Not sure what TBLSPACE_STATS does, but Andrew Hamm also suggested it so
I'll
RTFM ...
This is an oltp system - I should have said - so hopefully not a lot of
call
for PDQ.
thanks for your interest - keep 'em coming. I mean, it couldn;t just be
that 9.40 is just slower, could it? I read in some marketing literature
that it's 15% faster ...
cheers
Neil
