Hello Hank,
I've just completed a limited test on the dbexport command
and am pleased to say that it runs well, granted my test database is
relatively small and I just happen to have a zippy rm400 machine to
myself at the moment but, that said, it compares well at first glimpse
with its predecessor. Oh BTW I don't have any BLOBS in the db and that
may be a consideration.
If you can include the -q option which suppresses the
display of messages, warnings and generated sql statements you will
definitely save some overhead but unless your database is >5 Gigabytes
it seems you definitely have a problem somewhere I would suggest
that you look closely at the BLOB characteristics and then see how
your Unix system resources are being hit. It would be interesting to
know your hardware platform and size of database here too.
Hope This Helps
