(True, Powerdesigner will actually write them either way but there's just less and simpler code this way.) b) The database will know the dependencies. If you need to update table A, looking at the dependencies will tell you that this directly affects tables B & C, and indirectly also table E. This is important information. (You could get it out of a trigger but it's tougher to find this.) b) they're in Informix's area of responsibility.
