RE: Automatic Commits?
Posted in 1996
Hi! IF you set Unbuffered loggin you can acomplish this task, because this type of loggin executes the writes to disk every time a COMMIT is executed, so you control from your application or script to make a commit every 100 rows or whatever. Hope this helps, ------------------------------------------------------ Mario Estrada | SISTECO, S.A. Another database engine which we had a while ago and which I don't care name here allowed us to specify that during an sql insertion I want the engine to automatically do a commit after say 100 rows have been inserted. We are now very happily using Online Version 7.1, but cannot find a way to do this. This is a problem for us since we have a need to periodically transfer as many as 200k rows from one database to another and must have logging turned on. We run out of log space and locks. We didn't want to have to write an esql/c program to do this chore. We do not have 4GL at this time. Does anyone know of a way to accomplish this? elderbox@teleport.COM Public Access User --- Not affiliated with Teleport Public Access UNIX and Internet at (503) 220-1016 (2400-28800, N81)
