A couple of things to check: o We have noticed that some front-end tools, like SQLWindows, creates temporary files. After a period of time, these files can grow in number which in turns slows down even a basic SELECT. We clean these tmp files up on each reboot of our machines. o You can also tune the packet size through FET_BUFF_SIZE. I believe the default size is 4k.
