How to make a memory file system in Solaris
Posted in 1999
Hello friens, I have a few questions that you might be able to help me with. 1) Is memory file systems supported in Solaris? 2) If it is not a standard feature, then is there is any way around that? 3) If the answer to 1 or 2 is positive, then how can we build a memory file system in Solaris. The aim of the mfs is to be used a cooked file temp dbspace. Our client have a Sun Enterprise 5000 with 2 Gig of RAM, and do a lot of sorting that slows down the queries. I have heard that it is possible to use mfs to be the temp space. I had done a lot of search with the key words mfs, mount_mfs, ramdisk, in memory file system, and I found material related to FreeBSD, Linux, SCO, HP-UX and Digital unix, but non on Solaris. Thanks a lot and best regards, Amgad Al-Sisi Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
