With "exported database", do you mean that you used the "dbexport" command? If not specified otherwise, this will create a subdirectory called "<databasename>.exp". In that directory, you will find a file called "<tablename>.unl" for each table that contains the table's data in standard "unload" format. You can use "dbload" (preferred) or the "load from <filename> insert into <tablename" SQL command to load the data into the appropriate tables of your running database.
