Accessing Informix DB via ODBC

Is it true that you can only access an Informix DB using a middleware product, like Intersolv? We want to query an Informix DB from a web application using IBM's native ODBC driver, but have heard that you need to have a middleware product or pay if developed on our own.
No - you can access Informix DB using ODBC alone. You can use the Perl and the Modules DBD and DBI to access an Informix database for free. Todd
