Logical Log Backup Method
Posted in 1997
Hello,
If I'm pointing the LTAPEDEV to a tape device, and I understand
if the tape is full, then logical log can't backup and the database
will eventually hang.
In this case, e.g., if the tape drive is bad, can I just change the LTAPEDEV
device to /dev/null and do a ontape -c to resume ONLINE asap?
Also, if I'm using a file for LTAPEDEV, can I switch file while logical
log is idle?
We are looking at ON-Bar, but it is not really as easy/fast or trouble-free
as we thought to be.
