Notice my first sentence in a nut shell! If the intent is to go to AN INFORMIX DB this should work okay. I learned this } concept a while back. UNIX is the host environment, and I'd trust UNIX } before I trust software that for the most part does stuff I don't have a } CLUE what it's doing. I really like INFORMIX products, but let's not } get carried away here. } } The data base user information is one step farther away from just going to } UNIX and getting the login. How do YOU know just how current the data } base information is? And what about shared memory? Are you going to } trust the front door to guests? And what if I write an app that doesn't } even hit a data base? Let's not get so data-base-dependent that all we } can see are data-base-solutions. INFORMIX software sucks outside of } UNIX, and it's only improved recently with Windows NT. UNIX or a damn } good operating system makes the software great, but by itself, hmmmmm, } I really have my reservations. I tried the DOS INFORMIX, and uh, it } isn't so great.
