Same scenario here. We have no problem in using restore (-r -w) here.
Btw, we perform (-b -w) when there's little updating.
In theory, the only logs needed are those salvaged *just* before the
restore starts. But when restoring to point-in-time, we hit one
of the 'feature' that the salvaged log not always able to apply back to
the image.
In fact, onbar can somtimes just need phyiscal restore, then exit
with an error (because there is no logical log back up in the first
place) and continues to go to quiescent mode.
(well, Informix Support decline to say 'bug', and in newer 7.3 manuals
they even stipulate that logical log *MUST* be backedup for p-i-t
restore).
One workaround is to also restore ixbar.SERVERNUM first (that's p-i-t)
and then use -r -w (without -t).
