Infomodeler will do your standard data modeling stuff, including true sync and ALTER (which actually isn't that standard, since many tools have trouble in this area). But IM also can do something no other tool does, which is allow you to create a conceptual model using ORM (Object Role Modeling) ORM models are based on business facts and rules, and IM will automatically create a properly normalized ERD from the ORM model. I have found that it much easier to communicate with users when I have an ORM model to work with. Thier latest incarnation of the tool (3.1) is a very nice piece of software that is easy to use and powerful. It has a great interface that really outclasses the other tools I have seen. Another nice feature is that IM supports OLE automation, so you can do just about anything you want in terms of interfacing with any existing enterprise dictionaries / repositories you may have. Thanks, Bill MacLean PS. I do not work for Infomodelers. I have consulted for their clients and taught classes for them, but that relationship exists because I think their product is great, not vice versa. -------------------==== Posted via Deja News ====----------------------- http://www.dejanews.com/ Search, Read, Post to Usenet
