SET EXPLAIN ON = ONINIT Error

Help Appreciated. I am using DBACCESS under Informix 7.1. Executing an 8 table join under DBACCESS is fine. As soon as I add SET EXPLAIN ON, Oninit crashes the engine. Is there some environment variable that should be set, identifying the size of the buffer to hold the query whilst running, or is there a set size for the explain file informix.out Kind Regards Dan Makin.
