Hi Andreas !
I think I can help here. If you want to work in a german
environment, you have to do the following things:
NT Server side:
To get dbaccess to work properly edit the file setenv.cmd in
%INFORMIXDIR% and set
DB_LOCALE=de_de.west-europe
CLIENT_LOCALE=de_de.west-europe
This means that from now on all databases are created as german
databases. If you already have created databases and you want
them to be german databases, you have to dbexport/dbimport them.
You can check the current locale environment with the following
SQL in the sysmaster database:
SELECT * FROM sysdbslocales
Client Side:
In the first tabbing of Informix Connect you can set environment
variables. You will find DB_LOCALE and CLIENT_LOCALE here, too.
Set them like you did it on the server.
With these settings you should have no problems with umlauten. By
the way, if you just want to use umlaute while you keep the
decimal point as ".", set the locale variables as follows:
DB_LOCALE=en_gb.west-europe
CLIENT_LOCALE=en_gb.west-europe
This works fine (in times of the EU even the english guys have to
know umlaute ;-)). For further information RTFM "Guide to GLS
functionality".
Hope this helps !
Tschuess,
Dirk
